This week in class we talked about sociological imagination and sociological mindfulness. Sociological imagination is how individuals are influenced by where and when they live while sociological mindfulness is going further into why this happens. No one ever really thinks about these questions because they do not like change. What if you had a different personality? What if you lived during a different age period? What if you lived on the opposite side of the world? Let's say my parents decided to have lived in Australia instead of the United States, I would agree and say I would have been a totally different person. I would have had an accent, I would have a different personality and I would always have a tan! Thinking back on my life,
most things I did were what I was influenced by my parents or
especially my sister. My sister danced and played sports, so I wanted to
dance and play sports. I am glad that I was influenced to do those
things because those are my favorite. I would love to know how different I would have been if I lived in a different country or was influenced by other people, better yet a different age period. If I would have been born in the 1950's with less technology than we have today, I would be a completely different person. I know I hate saying this because I wish it wasn't true but I am attached to my cell phone and living back then I wonder what I would be attached to instead. Maybe playing outside more. Who knows. I wish this age was not so reliable on technology because back then they didn't have much. Our parents survived and so did our grandparents and everyone before them....so why can't we?

to do
Who Am I? I am a strong, independent, working woman. I am always doing what is best for others. I believe in helping everyone and making sure they are happy before myself. I am a very busy person. I have had two jobs since I was a sophomore in High School. My family has gone through a lot of hardships and I decided to step up and help out by getting jobs. I worked at Maggie Moo's Ice Cream and it was so much fun because I got to scoop ice cream and mix it with candy on a cold slab of ice. Also, I loved getting free ice cream! But sadly it closed and now work at a different ice cream store under a new name. All my friends loved coming to visit me. My other job is at a DJ Company and I dance at bat/bar mitzvahs, birthday parties, school parties and special occasions. I have worked here for three years and I love it because I get to dance and that is my favorite thing to do. Dancing is my passion and I'm happy I get to work in an environment that I love to be in every weekend. I also play travel softball for most of my life. I was a left fielder and first basemen. It has been my favorite sport since I was little.

My biggest influence is my father because he had to close down his company two years ago. He was very upset about that. This economy was terrible and hurt our family. He was jobless for a couple years, which lead me to getting two jobs and my mom received one as well. He has influenced me to never give up because he did not have a job for a while and then finally found one and is extremely ecstatic about it. Good things come to those who wait. Also, my biggest goal in life is to become a defense lawyer for criminals. I have wanted to do this since I have watched my cousins in court and learned more about it. I have taken classes about criminology and law which makes me more and more interested in this field of study. Going through all these hardships people use to ask me how do I have time for everything, you can't do it all and I would say, "You tell me I can't, I'll show you I can."
